Split

Geographical position

Grad Split is located in the warmest part of the northern Mediterranean, in the very center of the Adriatic coast, in the vicinity of Jadro and Žrnovnica river that give it it's water for more than 1700 years. Split is the capital of the Splitsko-Dalmatinska county and is main urban, cultural and traffic center of Dalmatia.

Split is extremely well connected by ship to the other coastal and island ports and is also the final railroad station. It's mild climate with 2700 yearly sun hours turns it into an oasis where you can enjoy the sun even in the middle of the winter

Industrial, university and economic center of the region keeps it's "green soul" on the mount Marjan, located on the western part of the peninsula, where park-forest near the city gives you pleasure of peacefull moments away from the city noise on the walkways under the pines by the sea.

Split

Because of its traffic connections it is the unavoidable destination, and also because of its 1700 years of existence, because of which there is a variety of cultural, archeological and historical monuments, and once you are there be sure to visit the Diocletian palace, and grab the thumb of Grgur Ninski statue for good luck.

The city is full of sports clubs, beaches (Bacvice is the most known), restaurants, disco clubs, museums, palaces and cultural events, and when you get tired from the city you can visit the botanical garden in the park of nature Biokovo, go rafting on Cetina river, see the beauty of the old pirate city of Omis, or see the old city center of Trogir which is under protection of UNESCO, and islands of Brac and Hvar are not far away.

What to see in Split?

  • Diocletian palace, town within town of Split
  • Cellars - preserved values from times of Diocletian
