ATTRACTIVE CASTLE ON THE ISLAND OF ŠIPAN!

Old stone house,island of Šipan. Castle for sale,island of Šipan.This beautiful castle-fortress is situated on the island of Sipan. It is located about 500 m distant from the sea to the north-east, and 950 m to the south-east to the Suđurađ town. Like many other buildings on Sipan, because of the invasion from the Turks and pirates this complex it has defensive character. Protected as cultural heritage, the property are consists of a castle with a tower (XVI century, later became a Benedictine monastery , and the two parcels with total area of approximately 9858 m2. Smaller parcels on the north side of the access road has approximately 300 m2, while on the western side of the castle, next to the tower is bigger parcel with garden and orchard. Electricity and telephone are next to the property. The tower and the church are in very good condition but the rest of the castle are mostley in ruins. The tower once had a drawbridge for escaped from the enemy. Beneath the tower is a large water tank. In the inner courtyard, behind the church there is another water tank. South of the garden are the remains of the stable. . The complex can be reconstructed in the existing profiles. For any other construction activities, which are not the subject of the reconstruction should be approved by the competent authorities and conservationists. This castle was built by famous historical family Stjepović - Krivonosović - Skočibuha who were sailors, shipbuilders and shipowners, builders, owners of several buildings on the island. They sailed all over the Mediterranean and beyond, to the shores of England and the Netherlands. There are a lot of interesting historical information about this family, as well as the island itself. Full komplex of Pakljena are protected with surrounding hills and developed around the Benedictine monastery and parish church in the fifteenth century Benedictine monksare are lived in the monastery untill 1741. Construction of the whole komplex are lasted during three centuries from the Romanesque to the Baroque. Today it consists of the parish church , then smaller pre-Romanesque church Sv.Mihajla, two monastery wings with renaissance tower on the west. The tower was built in the 1570. Today it is in bad condition, its need renovation. Wings of the monastery are now preserved only the outer walls while the floors and the roof collapsed. The parish church adjacent to the Church of St. Michael from 11.st has 94m2, barrel vault, the walls are 50cm thick, single-nave church dome type with angular apse, covered with half-round tiles, in the apse is upgraded water tank. The whole komplex is rounded: the church Sv.Mihajla on the north, wall conected to the parish church and the parish house( that are not offered for sale). On the south side of the church is a square courtyard that is surrounded on one side with the wall that has main entrance to the courtyard and of the other side its closed by two ruined buildings of the former monastery , L-shaped. Both buildings had once two floors. On the western part of the buildings in the corner rises a stone square tower with three floors. Next to it was once the southern entrance to the castle via the drawbridge that do not now exist. In the south wall there is a gate, a tunnel that leads out in the large garden (9700m2), has regular shape surrounded by a stone wall and has a direct access to the road. There are the remains of a barn. Complex sizes: Church: 94m2 monastery tower: 176m2 Monastery Ruins: 260m2 Land plot 10038m2
